Sarazen Vengeance 11 A Sarazen Saga Novel Book 2 eBook Isabel Wroth

I know that I am not in the majority, but I find this book MUCH better than the first book. The writing is not so all over the place. The first book had waaaaay too many story lines going on. It felt like a sensory over-load as the author tried to tell too many stories at once. This book was devoted to the couple, and because of that we got a much better feel for what was going on. I personally enjoyed both of them and their changing relationship. Ohlan and Andi are my favorite couple so far due to her changing in to a different and more confident person, and he was a solid presence that could be whatever she needed at the time.

The editing on this was much better as well. No issues with sentence structure or verb tenses like there were in the last one. I honestly wasn't going to read this due to my low opinion of the last book, but I did and I am damn glad I did! I am now chomping at the bit for the next one! I also hope to see Brannaugh's book as well.

Great job on this, Ms. Wroth! I can't wait for the 28th!

Sarazen Vengeance 11 A Sarazen Saga Novel Book 2 eBook Isabel Wroth Reviews

I am loving this new series by Isabel Wroth! The Sarazen's new mates arrive on the planet and are trying to fit in. Andi and Ohlen are getting very close. Unfortunately, there is treachery afoot from an unknown faction who aren't happy about the humans mating with the natives. Then Andi is stolen away by this faction using illegal technology and given a high dose of a pollen which blocks her ability to use telepathy with Ohlen. Rescued, the search for a cure begins as at the same time warriors all over the planet and on spaceships go mad and suddenly die. Can't wait to see what is next!
I loved the first book so I definitely looked forward to this one. This was such a sweet romance between a huge sweetheart of an alien (really huge) and a tiny human woman. Ohlan had to be extra gentle and understanding because Andi had been abused for the last five years by an AH privileged human officer. It was really sweet to see him try so hard (and succeed). It was also great to see her become so strong. I really hope there are going to be more books in this series since I enjoyed the first two so much. Enjoy! 😀
Positives
Good writing, loving relationships, interesting plotlines.

Personal relationship preference
I like Clary from the first book better than Andi, as Andi is naturally much more submissive, provided she is able to trust her partner. I find Clary more interesting because she initiates her own choices, while Andi tends to react, whether that's once Ohlen directs her to do something or once he makes it clear he's allowing her to make the choice.

The dynamic between Clary and Tarek is more a partnership of equals, while Ohlen and Andi have more of a traditional male/female pattern, with Ohlen clearly dominant. While Ohlen obviously loves, respects and (when he feels appropriate) consults Andi , he also wants and expects her to take less initiative. Wroth makes this differing dynamic clear in a few of Ohlen's inner dialogues when Ohlen rejoices that Andi is much less independent than Clary, and he's glad that Andi will be happy to lean on him. It works for the two of them, so it's all good, but it's just not what I find more rewarding myself.

I'm also concerned that the Sarazen partners in the mated pairs may all start blending together in the reader's mind. I think this concern arises because (with a few variables) the Sarazens have all the same fears and desires surrounding their mates. They're driven to protect, honor and cherish their mates, which makes for very similar dialogues, both those internal to the Sarazen male and when he's speaking to his human mate.

The only real differences in the pairings occur around the human mate's backstory. Andi's life on board the colony ship was very different from Clary's, and those differences make them more individual as characters and affect the way their mates treat them.

Clary and Andi are the two least similar women, though, so in any future stories, Wroth will need to find ways to make it clear that the remaining women and their mates are distinct individuals. Right now, none of the other women are very memorable to me except Gwen, and that's mostly because she's always the crankiest one.

As a counterbalance to all that's similar in the stories so far, I'd really like to hear about the Sarazen females and what they're like, as well as more of the Sarazen female/human male mate pairs and how they're adjusting to one another. I feel strongly that the series needs more character diversity, or else the books may start to seem like variations on one all-too-basic theme.

Another preference
I would rather read work that can stand on its own, and this story can't, so that diminishes my rating. By that I mean that this book wouldn't make much sense unless you read Sarazens first, because you need to know the Sarazens plot in order to understand what's happening in Sarazen's Vengeance. Even the relationship between Andi and Ohlen can only be understood fully if you already know what has happened between Clary and Tarek, and the rest of the mated pairs in Sarazens.

Last preference
For me, this story had too many sex scenes in proportion to its measure of storytelling. Though those sex scenes all are well written, my preference is to have a clear majority of the story drawn from whatever the primary genre might be. After reading Sarazens, I would have thought this book would be the same genre--fantasy with a strong romance element. Instead it seemed more like a romance novella, one with much more sex than fantasy elements.

The plot was very thin, and the arc of the story was interrupted by the romantic relationship rather than being fed by it. On the whole, the book needed more plot elements to balance the romance. It was especially a problem for me because the book didn't stand on its own when it really could have, and that would have made it a more interesting story, one that advanced the series as a whole rather than too often simply retreading the same ground as Sarazens.

Technical issues
The constant misuse of possessives. Sarazen's is not and never has been the plural of Sarazen. Please, please take note of the proper use of apostrophes, Isabel Wroth and editor, and you'll make all us grammar-aware readers much happier and more comfortable in reading your good work.
This story or series is really intresting. I originally thought this secound story would just be a rehash of the the first book but from Andis ooint of view but it was that and so much more. I really like the fact that that they also have so much more. The story has a kidnapping and other things going on. But to be honest you do need to read the first book in order to understand what is happening so read Sarazens claim first then this story many things were left out of the first story but only because it did not relate to each couple so when you read the first story you get claire story in this one andi and Olems I probly spelled the names wrong but you get the drift i am moving on to 1.2 book because it is kind of a cliffhanger. These stories are not only romance but adventure and intrigue
So I loved Sarazen's Claim and gave it 5 stars. If I could give this book, Sarazen's Vengeance, more stars I would. Not sure why it's called book 1.1 since it's a full-length stand alone novel. Finally, in all the romance books I have read, and I've read many many hundreds, maybe a thousand, to find an alpha hero who really means it when he says his "one" is everything. While he is a dominant alien male, he reins it in and truly puts his one's needs and feelings first. Since she does the same for him, it is true love. Sigh. She starts out a little more damaged than some other strong females in this and similar story lines, she finds her footing mid way through the story, well, actually her hero helps her find her own strength and for that I love him. So many of the romance alphas want to wrap their heroine in a bubble and do the protection, but this one, Ohlen, while he too wants to wrap her in a bubble, he teaches her to protect herself too. He made Andi feel strong and desired, and loved. Way to go Ms. Wroth.
