This was an okay book. Sallie was a bit of a pushover when it came to Garrett. Garrett was an idiot, he did stupid things because he thought he was being noble. He was also very ignorant. These main characters were childish and unrealistic.
SPOILERS
It was very angering that Garrett didn't just fire Slyvia when he heard all the things she said and she was a horrible person. Callies readiness to forgive Garrett for lying and pushing her away was also an issue I had with this book. They acted like teenagers. When each got jealous or angry with themselves they would take it out on eachother. Also when Samuel shot at them I was very annoyed that Garrett paid his legal fees when they were struggling with money. Who pays for someone that shot them legal fees, even if they are family. Samuel was bitter and vengeful and helping him was not good. He almost killed Garrett and could've killed callie too. Calories had the right to be angry Garrett allowed oil drilling on her family land to pay for legal fees of a man who almost killed them. When callie and garrett found out about pregnancy he should have stopped helping Samuel because he could be a threat to his family. Sallie should not have been so forgiving that she over looked the oil drilling and deception the moment Garrett says I love you. This situation was unreal and kind of hard to believe and buy into. Sallie should have demanded he stop helping Samuel for family safety and not righteousness. Overall it was a cute plot and nice quick read. Although, chemistry was a little lacking. The unrealistic situations in this book made it hard to connect t and fully get into. This should have been a free book. I will probably not continue with the series. But if you like farfetched plots, doormat wives, and arrogant and ignorant cobblestone is the book for you.

Callie Heart Lasso Springs Book 1 edition by Kathleen Ball Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I love Kathleen Ball's writing. Her descriptions and emotions in her work intrigued me, so I was looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed. Like a bucking bronco, Callie's Heart, took me up and down, emotionally. I loved the character of Callie right away. She's a smart, feisty, independent woman who has a heart of gold. Garrett was drool-worthy from start to finish, even if he could use a lesson in communication! I loved the western setting and the horses, who became supporting characters. And speaking of supporting characters, you could do a lot worse than to end up with Old Henry! I adored him. A "Dutch uncle" kind of guy every women wishes she had watching over her. The love is both exciting and genuine. The plot had me guessing all the way. There is mystery sprinkled expertly in with the love story so I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read her next book. Bravo, Callie...I mean, Kathleen.
Sorry but what a weak love story.
You have a husband who basically claims to love his wife whom he married when she was 17 years old to save her Aunt from getting her farm after Mom passed away.

Yet this man was making out with another woman when she returned home from college. Playing footsie with the housekeeper at the dinner table.

Drama unfolds with multiple people trying to get them to sign over the rights to one of the properties due to oil. It makes no sense how many different people try & kill them yet can't manage it.

She & he do it she gets pregnant & has a miscarriage.

They make up but she finds out he had been lying to her all along about the property & making others lie. After all is said he allows drilling on what had been her family property BUT hey he doesn't tell her, the property was in his name alone for marrying her AND he kept it from her that he was allowing the drilling.

So she is upset & a mutual family friend allows her to stay at his new place while she has time to come to terms. He immediately gets nasty & claims she is cheating.

Oh but he is being consoled by the pretty server who somehow gets invited to deliver lunch to this property.

Server tells her that her husband is coming in to be consoled by her, she goes to do ranch work and server tells her to go do man work she'll just look pretty. She goes off to think, comes back and people are looking for her.

Server gets mad and says how selfish she is that now HUSBAND and her can't go out together.

Sorry but this story just made me cringe. This guy was not a loving guy. What he did was emotional abuse. Making out, going on dates in front of his wife. Getting her pregnant then all over MULTIPLE women. Dating others while married.

I had to read this, sorry but garbage. I am disgusted she would stay with this man.
Callie and Garrett should never be put together. Callie is a sweet, honest, simple country girl, and Garrett is a total jerk. He is the most wishy-washy man in the world. He loves her, he tells her to get a divorce after he takes her virginity, all the while being "too old for her". He was truly so old that he forgot about unprotected sex and potential consequences. Then it was he loves her, but he never took the time to see if she got her gifts. He roughs her up and leaves bruises, sorry folks...That isn't love. He got mad because someone put a slight bruise on her cheek when he put bruises all over her body. The only reason I went ahead and gave 2stars is because of the supporting cast. Every one of them deserves better than Garrett. Don't buy unless you like abusive lying jerks that blow hot and cold.
