Fire with Fire Demonblood Book 2 eBook Penelope King
Okay, it is official! Penelope King has just topped my list of favorite authors!! WOW! I still get chills thinking about this book. For those who read the first book in the Demonblood series, A Demon Made Me Do It, if you haven't read this book, drop everything and do it now!The much loved characters of book one are back, with the addition of a few new ones. I still can't fault any of them. They are so amazing and well-written. They will stay with you for hours after you have finished reading. Especially Bones!! Super Sexy, Sweet, Smoking Hot Bones!! *sigh* I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for him! :) He can be my Incubus/Hellhound any day!
Penelope King creates such a vivid image of the world/s she has created and it was like a movie played in my head as I read each page.
There are even more twists and surprises in this book and never, for even one second, think that you know exactly what is going on. This story is as emotionally charged as book one, and more than once I found myself gasping! There was even a point where my heart felt like it shattered into a million tiny pieces. But there are also those moments that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :) Like the ending :))))
I had a sneaky suspicion as to how the book was going to end and I rejoiced when I read the last few words (I also burst into tears LOL)!! Brilliant!
I cannot wait for the third book in the series!

Fire with Fire Demonblood Book 2 eBook Penelope King Reviews
Fire with Fire is the second book in the Demonblood series by Penelope King. All I can say is wow. I received the first book in this series, A Demon Made Me Do It, for review, and as soon as I read the last sentence I immediately got on and purchased this book. I just was not ready for the drama to be finished. Unfortunately, now I have to wait until this summer to get my next fix.
Fire with Fire continues the story of Liora and Lucky. It picks up the story a couple of months down the road from where the first book had ended. Liora/Lucky is impatiently awaiting Kieron's return. In the meantime, Liora finds something akin to love in the new boy, Tristan, and Lucky is finding comfort in the arms of an old friend, Bones. But, things are not always what they seem, and soon Liora and Lucky have to figure out who it is they can really trust. When a series of attacks lead them and their friends into hostile territory, misplaced trust will take them on a journey that can only end in tragedy.
So, where to start? I love this story, but I'm not sure what to say without giving too much away! In this book Liora is still struggling with trying to be "normal" and getting through the last few months of high school. She finds comfort in Tristan, and even when concerns are raised about their relationship, Liora defends him, possibly alienating her one and only friend. At the same time, Lucky, having no idea what kind of trouble Liora has gotten herself into, is struggling to understand and control her feelings for her best friend, which is much more complicated with Kieron away. She is also really struggling with her own low self-esteem, putting the blame on herself for everything that goes wrong. Kieron...I'm not sure what to do with him. First you love him, then you hate him, then you love him, then you hate him...right now I love him, but we'll have to see where that goes in the next book. And then there is Bones. Hmmm...I'm not going to say too much about him, because I can't without giving away way too much information, but I love Bones so much! He's so sexy and sweet and caring and loving and cuddly...and did I mention sexy?! I love the whole idea of the past lives, that him, Liora/Lucky, and Kieron have crossed paths before. I'm really looking forward to the next book to see where that leads. It seems in this book that the whole love triangle problem is taken care of, but I suspect (or at least really, really hope) that someway, somehow we will see more of Bones in the next book.
This book, like the first in the series, was fast moving and unpredictable. There were moments when I thought I knew what was going to happen, and then...surprise! I was wrong, and of course what was written was way better than what I had came up with in my head. And the ending...another cliffhanger. The characters are so very well written that you just feel like you know them, whether it is to love them or hate them. They stick with you and make you want more.
The worlds the author has created are complex and unique. It's really amazing how you can have two separate worlds in this book that are overlapping and coexisting but yet not really interacting. I think the story idea in this series is so unique. Normally the demons are portrayed as the bad guys, but here that's not the case. When Lucky goes tormenting it is people who are breaking the law, usually against innocent people.
So, long story short, I love this series and cannot wait for this summer so I can read the next in the series.
Liora and Lucky, a human and a demon respectively, share a body after their soul was split by the demons, Amazea who killed their friends and are now being escorted to the Legionnaire by Kieron.
But two months have passed and Kieron hasn't returned. Liora and Lucky know where he is, if something has happened to him or if he just doesn't care about them anymore. Lucky takes comfort in the arms of Bones, while Liora hangs out with a mysterious stranger with an unforeseen motive. He is using Liora for something, but what?
Meanwhile, Lucky finds out that Kieron is being held hostage and tortured by another tribe of demons as revenge for being involved in a battle that killed five of their hellhounds. Immediately, Lucky decides that she must go and rescue him. She is stopped by Aria, a telepath, who tells her she cannot go yet, the time is not right and promises to help when the time comes. Lucky is not very happy about this but she has no choice. Bones will also accompany her, along with a couple of other hellhounds.
This book was just as good as the first one, which is fantastic. I really, really enjoyed it. I really didn't like Lucky in the first book but she grew on me a little bit more here. I still really liked Liora, she is just a sweetheart, probably one of my favourite female characters. Bones is just as hot and sexy as ever and Kieron is still amazing, once he finally returns. I love him. And lets not forget Lucky/Liora's guardian Tatiana, she is just amazing.
We have some new and mysterious characters now too. Tristan and Cassandra, a brother and sister who start at Lucky's school.
This book was fast moving and definitely unpredictable. Once again I really liked the authors writing style and just find it so easy to read. This book was very emotional and upsetting at times and the ending..........what more can I say. I cannot wait for the next one.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this book to any paranormal romance fans out there.
